Test

Implementation and inquiry as testing

As the semester-long project drew to a close, the stakeholders who designed and developed inquiry projects were left with the agentive opportunity to take action. Going forward, their projects might frame how they collaborate with colleagues or ed tech coaches in the 2016-2017 school year. Also, these projects might aid teachers in setting student learning outcome goals. For school leaders, the projects may inform school-level change initiatives and professional learning approaches. In that way, these inquiry projects will be tested when they are implemented by those who designed them.

Sharing as testing

The inquiry projects will also be tested when the ed tech coaches share them with interested stakeholders who might join the project in the coming school year. As the coaches support all schools in APS, these projects can act as invitations to think about the intersection of ed tech and equity, and to co-inquire into some of the potential shifts we have envisioned.

Reflection as testing

Finally, these projects might support the reflection of the educators who crafted them. After co-constructing one inquiry project with an instructional coach who supports math teachers, we asked her to reflect on her level of interest and the degree to which the inquiry we framed was actionable. This is a subtle way for district support staff to gauge the flexibility of our system, and for educators to envision changes in practice.

This screenshot shows how we revisited a co-constructed plan at the end of the school year.
